Wichita Swing Dance Weekly

This Month's Classes: Intermediate Lindy Hop taught by Evan & Megan 6:30-7:30  Intro to Swing 7:30-8:00 Taught by a lovely variety of teachers.  There will be additional teachers substituting. Homework Did you know that Budapest Hungary had a Lindy Hop Scene? I sure didn't. This is a video from Lindy Shock, a recent workshop weekend. Check out their website too. Looks like they have a hopping scene chalk full of style. Arnas and Kamile won first place with this routine. I adore their musicality. There are so many moves in this routine that I would love to learn how to do. Learning these moves is fun, applying the moves at the right moment to express something musical that you are hearing, is magical. Come learn some intermediate Lindy Hop moves tonight at 6:30. Drop in price for the class is $6 and $8.   Travel Opportunities: If you're looking to meet more dancers and skyrocket your skills, there's no better way than to hop in the car and find a weekend workshop.               The DecaVitas are back in Omaha Jan 9th & 10th.  Rock Chalk Swing has a FANTASTIC lineup of teachers. Make sure to drive up for their event in Lawrence Feb 12th-14th. Lindyfest  in Houston, TX. March 24th-27th is a HUGE event and oodles of fun. World class instruction, fantastic live bands and a whole bunch of fun competitions to watch mixed in. Favorite music This week's song is Sara Niemietz with Post Modern Jukebox doing a rendition of Hey Ya! So sultry and smooth. If you have taken the beginner class, please join us to expand your dancing. We promise, the more you learn, the more fun you will have. Since we have an extra Sunday, the cost for the month is $25 for members and $35 for nonmembers. It is 20 minutes of fun dancing, sure to put a smile on your face. My favorite part comes at around 9:30, when the dancer slides across the floor. I love his musicality. This happens at the Montreal Swing Riot and is called the Invitational Battle Vintage vs Modern Street Dancers. November 20-22. If you love dancing to live music, this is the event to go to! Fabulous dancers and more live music than you can shake a stick at. Lindyfest  in Houston, TX. Worth TX for a dance workshop. Last year we had a group go down too. Well, the month of October is your chance. We will offer an hour long class each week at 6:30. Join us to learn an incredibly fun dance. If you have already taken the class, feel free to repeat it to solidify the movements or take it as the opposite part for fun. Now, check out this video of The Swinging Air force Squad. What a dynamic routine! This Sunday is the last Charleston class so make sure you catch it.
