Wichita Swing Dance Weekly

This Month's Classes: Charleston taught by Isaiah, Amy, and Amanda 6:30-7:30  Intro to Swing 7:30-8:00 Taught by a lovely variety of teachers.  There will be additional teachers substituting. Next Month's Classes: Beginning Lindy Hop Upcoming Events: October 4th is Dance Card Sunday. October 25th is the Halloween Party and the Birthday Jam September 27th is the birthday jam and 1920's flashback. Extra Extra! We want to hear what you think. If you have an idea let us know. Got a concern on your mind, lay it on us. We want your experience to be fun and worry free. Homework Have you been wanting to learn Lindy Hop? Well, the month of October is your chance. We will offer an hour long class each week at 6:30. Join us to learn an incredibly fun dance. If you have already taken the class, feel free to repeat it to solidify the movements or take it as the opposite part for fun. Now, check out this video of Thomas and Alice. Their dancing highlights the music so well. This Sunday is the last Charleston class so make sure you catch it. Drop in is $6 for members and $8 for nonmembers the 6:30 class. Travel Opportunities: If you're looking to meet more dancers and skyrocket your skills, there's no better way than to hop in the car and find a weekend workshop.               Sundance Swing Out  is in Ft. Worth TX October 9th-11th. The instructor lineup looks great and I hear there event is a blast. Kansas City has two full nights of live music October 16th and 17th. Who wants to go? Sweeping Swing  is in Tulsa OK October 16th-18th featuring instructors Micheal Bradford, Dee Locke, Daniel Moore and Michelle Stokes.  Favorite music This week's song is a remake of a current song done in a 1920's style. Homework Last week many of our local dancers headed up to Omaha Nebraska for a weekend of live music, vintage clothes shopping, delicious food eating, classes taught by internationally accomplished dancers, and dancing into the wee hours of the morning. We even had TWO, yes TWO teams compete in the team competition. Our very own Hot Rhythm Revival got second place!!! Make sure to congratulate them tonight. If you want to see the other Wichita team that competed, make sure to show up before 9:00 tonight. You are in for a treat! Now, our regular Sunday classes will still be offered so make sure to make it out for those. If you want to add some fun moves to your repertoire, join us for our 6:30 class where we will be teaching various Charleston patterns.  Drop in is $6 for members and $8 for nonmembers the 6:30 class. The instructor lineup looks great and I hear there event is a blast. Many of our local dancers are on their way or already in Omaha Nebraska for a weekend of live music, vintage clothes shopping, delicious food eating, classes taught by world class dancers, and dancing into the wee hours of the morning. It is where lovers of dance all over the world go to compete against each other. Here Mikey Pedroza (USA) and Mikaela Hellsten (Sweden) got paired together for the invitational jack and jill competition. I love some of the musicality that comes out of them feeling the music.
