THIS WEEK

Thursday is the dollar dance at the studio!  That means DJ'd swing music in the studio basement from 7-9 PM.  Come out and join the fun, and remember to bring a potluck snack to share!

 

Friday the Two Man Gentlemen Band plays at the Shamrock (1724 W Douglas) from 10 PM to 1 AM.  Cover is $5, check them out here to get a preview:  http://www.thetwogentlemen.com/music/

 

Sunday we ARE dancing, so come out and work up a sweat!  It's a dance card Sunday, which means door prizes are on the line.  Plus the balboa classes begin!

 

LIVE BANDS

July 16 come out and see the Grand Marquis from Kansas City!  They'll be swinging the studio starting at 8 PM!  Plus there'll be other festivities for Sunflower Swing that evening.  All of it can be yours for just $10 at the door, or head to www.sunflowerswing.com to get a pass....
 
July 17 come back to the studio to see Pivot Point!  This is their third time playing for us and it's bound to be the best yet.  Music starts at 7 PM, $8 for everybody.
 
August 21st the Benders the Benders the Benders are coming to the studio!  Come see this high energy band and let your feet thank you later....

July 15-17 is Sunflower Swing here in Wichita, but you can register now!  In person on Sunday nights or online at www.sunflowerswing.com
The Grand Marquis, Pivot Point, and regional DJ's will keep you dancing for 3 nights while our instructors from Seattle, Denver, Minneapolis and Chicago will make your feet move during 2 days of workshops.  We're inviting all our friends from out of town so come out and show them how we do things in the ICT!

July we're going back to Cali and bringing you the Balboa!  Friend of happy feet everywhere this close partner dance will let you get down when the tempo picks up!

Wichita Swing Dance Society

Hello dancers!  This is part 1 of 2 for this week, because it needs your special attention.  Sunflower Swing is coming up soon, if you haven't heard.  Check out www.sunflowerswing.com for event details, and register today!

 

In addition to that we are ordering a limited number of t-shirts for Sunflower Swing.  This is your only opportunity to order them for the year and guarantee you'll receive a shirt.  Cost is $15, the shirts are navy and we have both men's and women's sizes available.  Sunflowers and a couple dancing up the side of the shirt as well as a locker tag of Sunflower Swing on the back guarantee a shirt you'll be proud to wear.  If you'd like to order, respond to this email with your name and size.  Payment will be due at the event.

 

Lastly, we have an ever growing number of dancers coming from out of town for the event, and we need places to put them!  If you'd like to host a dancer please respond to this email.  All that is required is a place for them to sleep (yes, the floor is acceptable) as well as access to a restroom (they're going to dance up a sweat that weekend).  We are very short on hosts at this point so please consider volunteering to help the event be a success this year!

Hello dancers!  It's been a busy June but we still have more great dancing for you.  First thing is first though:

 

DO YOU HAVE YOUR PASS TO SUNFLOWER SWING?  It's less than a month away, and will feature two days of workshops as well as three nights of dancing and two live bands!!!!!  If you don't have you pass yet you can buy it on Sunday or go to www.sunflowerswing.com now and purchase right away. 

 

If you're ready to really party, get your weekend pass that gets you into all the classes and all the dances.  If you're just interested in the evening activities, only $20 will get you an anniversary pass and admission to all the dances!

 

Take a few minutes to go get your pass, I'll wait......

THIS WEEK

Saturday we have a little change of pace for you.  The Old Town Farmer's Market is having the Hillybilly Band play Saturday morning.  They'll give you some dixieland and some swing, plus they're free!  So if you can get out of bed head on down and get a little free dancing in to a live band....

 

Sunday is SOUL NIGHT!  Come out for a great night of dancing to motown and more!

 

Thursday is our Dollar Dance!  Head to the basement for DJ'd swing music starting at 7 PM for just $1.  While you're at it, bring a snack to share!  For more details on how you can get some cheap dancing in every Thursday, check out www.harrysdance.com

Hello dancers!  It's June and we have a lot going on!

 

1) RIVERFEST!  It's a very big deal and there's a lot to do!  Check out the Riverfest section below for events we're targeting to have a presence at, and check out www.wichitariverfest.com for details on all of the festival happenings

 

2) NEW CLASSES!  The Big Apple starts this month.  Be warned, it is a progressive class throughout the month.  That means what we cover the second week will build on what we covered the first week.  So do your best to not miss out!

 

3) DANCE CARD SUNDAY!!!

 

4) SUNFLOWER SWING IS LESS THAN 2 MONTHS AWAY!!!  You can register online at www.sunflowerswing.com or on any Sunday night.

 

RIVERFEST
Yes indeed everyone, Riverfest is coming up and we wanted to draw your attention to some chances to dance......

We'll be getting together to promote the club at each of these two performances, so come ready to spread the word about the best swing club in town and wear your WSDS shirts!  Here they are:
