WSDS Weekly 11/22/11

Hello dancers! 

 

Happy Thanksgiving!  After the holiday, shopping and football, I trust you are ready to dance. Sunday is our Birthday jam.  Come and celebrate the November birthday babies.

 

December 4^th is our Annual Christmas Party from 7-10 pm.  A beginning East Coast Swing lesson is offered from 6:30-7 pm.  As a gift to our members the event is free.  For non-members it will cost $10 to enter.  You are encouraged to dress up and bring snacks to share.  The special guest is Nouveau Quintette playing music for 3 hours.  We will have a silent auction during the evening.  The fundraiser is to make Sunflower Swing a better event.  We currently have donations of dance lessons from several instructors, a set of Blues Ball tickets, jewelry, handcrafted clocks, wine, and handmade hats, scarfs, pillows and various desserts.  We are accepting donations and appreciate your participation at the event. 

 

December 4^th Goodwill Industries has asked us to come share our gift of dancing at their annual fundraiser Festival of Trees at Century II.  Set your watches, dancing will commence at 1pm for an hour.  Come join the fun in sharing good cheer.

WSDS Weekly 11/17/11

Hello dancers! 

 

Thank you to those who attended and supported the Central Prairie Honor Flight.  Congratulate our very own Shirley Hess and Isaiah Johnson for winning the dance competition.  A special thank you to Ronnie Choy and all of those who made our Sock Hop a success.

WSDS Weekly 11/10/11

Hello dancers! 

 

There are several dance opportunities this weekend to share.  First, Saturday we are proud sponsors of the Central Prairie Honor Flight at Jabara Airport.  The schedule of event is as follows; from 4-5 pm WSDS will provide free dance instruction.  A catered dinner starts at 5 pm for $15 (volunteer price).  The dance contest begins at 7pm and costs $25 to enter. There is over $500 of cash and prizes for participants.  General dancing will open after the contest.

 

Second, Sunday is our annual Sock Hop.  Our good friend Ronnie Choy will be spinning tunes to help us celebrate.  Dance the night away to 50's and 60's music.  We would love to see your poodle skirts, bobby socks and leather jackets for this wicked cool event. 

 

There will be a silent auction during the Christmas Party.  This fundraiser is for Sunflower Swing, to build a better event.  Please respond to this email or contact a board member if you are interested in donating anything.  No donation is too small and all are appreciated!

WSDS Weekly 11/3/11

Hello dancers! 

 

Thank you to everyone who made the Halloween Party a great event.  Hopefully, pictures of the party will be posted on Facebook within the next couple of weeks.  Don't forget it is Dance Card Sunday.

 

We are proud sponsors of the Central Prairie Honor Flight.  We are losing an estimated 1,600 World War II veterans a day. The "Honor Flights" Volunteers help WW2 Vets see the memorial in Washington D.C. On November 12th Jabara Airport will host a dinner/dance fundraiser. The Swing Dance Contest has cash prizes of $500.  Flyers for CPHF and Dance Contest are at the front table. 

 

November 13^th is our annual Sock Hop. To help us celebrate in style we have the Dance Man Ronnie Choy.  Dust off your poodle skirt and bobby socks for this wicked cool event.

Series Classes cost $20 for members and $30 non-members for the month.
