Wichita Swing Dance Weekly

This Month's Classes: Beginning Lindy    6:30-7:30 Intro to Swing        7:30-8:00 Taught by a lovely variety of teachers.  There will be additional teachers substituting. Next Month's Classes: Tandem Charleston!!!  Upcoming Events: Feb 28th is the Birthday Jam Extra Extra! We want to hear what you think. If you have an idea let us know. Remy and Alice has such great expression of the music. Just so you know, we will be teaching Tandem Charleston during the month of March. We have have lots of requests for it so make sure to sign up for the 6:30 class to reserve a spot. Also there are a handful of great weekend workshops within a day's drive coming up, make sure that Sunflower Swing in Wichita is on that list.  Travel Opportunities: If you're looking to meet more dancers and skyrocket your skills, there's no better way than to hop in the car and find a weekend workshop.     Lindyfest  in Houston, TX. March 24th-27th is a HUGE event and oodles of fun. World class instruction, fantastic live bands and a whole bunch of fun competitions to watch mixed in. Sunflower Swing in your home town. April 15-17th, the best party all year. Fabulous classes and dancing into the wee hours of the morning. Don't miss it! Sunflower Swing Housing

By now, you should know about Sunflower Swing, our annual educational event.  Alright, it's a party!  We have workshops, fun contests and dancing 'til 3.  If you need to know more or register, check out http://www.sunflowerswing.com.

Many of our Wichita dancers welcome out-of-town visitors into their homes.  This is a great way to meet dancers from other scenes and expand your circle of Lindy Hop friends.  You might decide to visit their city for dancing sometime!  All you need is some floor space and a shower.  If you haven't hosted before, don't worry, it's easy and our visitors will be very grateful.

If you are in the Wichita area and can host dancers for the weekend of April 15-17, send an email to sunflowerswing@gmail.com with the following information:

• Your name and the address where you will host, so your guests can find the place.
• Cell phone number or best contact number, provided to your guests for coordination.
• Number of people you can host.
• Whether you have pets.
• Anything else you think is important. 

Even if you are not coming to Sunflower Swing (though we hope you will reconsider), you can still be a host.

Don't miss it!  Last weekend, a gaggle of Wichita dancers drove up to Lawrence for Rock Chalk Swing. Many entered into the competitions and many won. This is a shot of just some of the winners. We had a blast taking classes and dancing to the wonderful live music. The Lawrence dancers know how to throw a great party!   Favorite music This week's song is a live performance by the Hot Sugar Band. I adore his syncopation and am looking forward to the classes and all of the dances that Lawrence has to offer. Hop in a car Friday night and join the lot of us for some quality dancing. Just make sure that you make it back to Wichita for our Masquerade Valentines Dance on Sunday night.  If you can't swing the Lawrence trip make sure to sign up for our own workshop in April.
