Homework Tandem Charleston is such a wonderful tool to have in your dance move toolbox. It provides a lot of visual punch for little energy. This is especially useful during live and fast music. This couple does a fair amount of it during this dance which helps maintain their stamina. There are more than a few moves in here that I have never seen before, enjoy!  Travel Opportunities: If you're looking to meet more dancers and skyrocket your skills, there's no better way to do it than by traveling to some regional events!  Alamo Stomp in San Antonio TX, Feb 6-8th. Our treasured Evan Borst just so happens to be the emcee for this event. If you go then you are sure to know at least one person. Remy Kouakou Kouame and Ramona Staffeld express this music so effortlessly. This clip is from a recent event in Seoul Korea. They have a popping scene.  Check out  Authentic Jazz Weekend on youtube for fun team dance battles. Travel Opportunities: If you're looking to meet more dancers and skyrocket your skills, there's no better way to do it than by traveling to some regional events!  Alamo Stomp in San Antonio TX, Feb 6-8th. We have a limited number of tickets for sale. Favorite music This week's song is Joe Liggins' "Pink Champagne". I has such a great bluesy soulful feel.  His music is so good that I went ahead and bought the whole album last night.  It was a steal for all of the great songs.  This month's music brought to you by... 2/1- Megan 2/8- Sonya 1/18- Chelsea 1/25- Evan Dancing Around Town February 18th         The Wright Brothers 6:00-9:00 Stay tuned to Facebook for impromptu meetups. Vintage Clips:  Another clip of Whitey's Lindy Hoppers. This clip is world renowned. You may think that you have seen this clip before, but have you seen it with the music that it was choreographed to dubbed over? I assure you that you will enjoy it even more. All of the tricks and airsteps really pop because they highlight certain instrument solos. The story is that Universal Studios did not have the rights to  Jumpin' at the Woodside, so they had their house band place the song in the movie that you have heard before.  Enjoy this fantastic display of energy.    Did you know that Sunflower Swing is coming up? This Month's Classes: Begging Lindy Hop 6:30-7:30 Taught by Evan and Sonya Solo Choreography  6:30-7:30          Taught by Megan Intro to Swing  7:30-8:00 Taught by Sonya and Toby There will be additional teachers substituting. Next Month's Classes: Partnered Charleston 6:30-7:30 Taught by Isaiah and Amanda $15 for 3 classes.  There will be no series class on Super Bowl Sunday. We will have Intro To Swing and the regular dance to follow.  Intro To Swing 7:30-8:00 Upcoming Events: Jan 4th is Dance Card Sunday.  January 25th is the Birthday Jam  Sunflower Swing April 17-19th Register now!   Extra Extra! We want to hear what you think. If you have an idea let us know. Got a concern on your mind, lay it on us. We want your experience to be fun and worry free. Homework So, I try and highlight dances that we will be teaching soon in videos that I post. Typing in tandem charleston only gets you clips and I wanted something with more oomph and I sure did find it. You can see it here and so much more. The energy that these professional dancers show is contagious. I found myself cheering more than a few times.   Travel Opportunities: If you're looking to meet more dancers and skyrocket your skills, there's no better way to do it than by traveling to some regional events!  Rock Chalk Swing in Lawrence KS, Feb 27-March 1st.  I will be selling this one hard. They have great instructors and it is sooooo close. I saw that we caravan up there! Spend your Valentines Day with some of your favorite local dancers. There will be a vintage variety show, followed by a dance. We have a limited number of tickets for sale. Favorite music This week's song is actually a link to a whole album that I just bought. You should recognize some of her songs since we play them often enough on Sunday nights. You should buy this album too, 32 songs for $8.99 is hard to beat. Check out "Snatch and Grab It" "I Didn't Like It The First Time" and my favorite, "Lotus Blossom". This month's music brought to you by... 1/4- Evan 1/11- Chelsea 1/18- Evan 1/25- Sonya Dancing Around Town January 21st  The Wright Brothers 6:00-9:00 Stay tuned to Facebook for impromptu meetups. Vintage Clips:  Another clip of Whitey's Lindy Hoppers from a movie that I had not yet seen. Not only are they fast and fantastic but one of these dancers may be Shorty George, the creator of his namesake move. The video quality is not great so I cannot tell for sure. Regardless, their energetic dancing puts a smile on my face.    Did you know that Sunflower Swing is coming up? Well it is! Dax Hock and Alice Mei appear to be having a lot of fun during this Jack & Jill competition.
