Wichita Swing Dance Weekly

This Month's Classes: Partnered Charleston 6:30-7:30 Taught by Isaiah and Amanda $15 for 3 classes.  Intro to Swing 7:30-8:00 Taught by Brandon and Ava There will be additional teachers substituting. Travel Opportunities: If you're looking to meet more dancers and skyrocket your skills, there's no better way to do it than by traveling to some regional events!  Alamo Stomp in San Antonio TX, Feb 6-8th. Our treasured Evan Borst just so happens to be the emcee for this event. If you go then you are sure to know at least one person. Rock Chalk Swing in Lawrence KS, Feb 27-March 1st.  I will be selling this one hard. They have great instructors and it is sooooo close. I say that we caravan up there! Lindy Diversion in Denver Co, March 6th-8th. If you love a variety of music and swing dance styles, this is a killer event.  Lindyfest and Lonestar Championships in Houston TX, March 12-15th. If you love watching the best of the best compete and love taking classes from world class instructors, this is your event. You could even make a few hundred new friends by the end.  Spend your Valentines Day with some of your favorite local dancers. There will be a vintage variety show, followed by a dance. We have a limited number of tickets for sale. Favorite music This week's song is Joe Liggins' "Pink Champagne". Vintage Clips:  Another clip of Whitey's Lindy Hoppers. This clip is world renowned. You may think that you have seen this clip before, but have you seen it with the music that it was choreographed to dubbed over? I assure you that you will enjoy it even more. All of the tricks and airsteps really pop because they highlight certain instrument solos. The story is that Universal Studios did not have the rights to  Jumpin' at the Woodside, so they had their house band place the song in the movie that you have heard before.  Enjoy this fantastic display of energy.    Did you know that Sunflower Swing is coming up? Well it is! If you want to save some cash on the admission price by volunteering, please email SunflowerSwing@gmail.com. We also need hosts for our out of dancers. If you have floor space and a shower you can host! Shoot us an email and we can match you with a dancer from out of town. They would greatly appreciate it.
