Hello Dancers! We have a lot of new things on the calendar to tell you about, but before I get to those, I wanted to take a minute to explain a change we'll be making.

Over the past 18 months every expense we have has increased. Bands, rent, DJ's, and teachers. We are taking proactive steps to balance our finances, including cost reduction measures and enhancing our income. The second of those affects some of you. I say some, because if you are a member of the WSDS, nothing will change for you. If you are not, the cost for you increases $1 for all Sunday events starting March 21st. This would mean on a normal Swingin' Sunday the cost is this:
Members: $3
Non-Members: $6

On a band night the cost would be this:
Members: $5
Non-Members: $8

This is a minor change but one that in conjunction with our other efforts we hope will be successful. We wanted to give plenty of advanced warning about this, you'll see more of it in the coming weeks. We appreciate all of your support, and hope you know we are begrudgingly taking these steps.

THIS WEEK
Saturday we've been invited to attend a concert with world renown Boogie Woogie Pianist Silvan Zingg! The concert is at the Poncan Theater in Ponca City, OK. The normal ticket prices are $20, but if you say you were sent by us then it's only $10! Check out this link for details:

Sunday is another live band, as the Benders return to the studio! This band is high energy and all the fun you can handle. Don't miss out, we also have a few special performances for you when the band catches a breather....

Tuesday is another Swing Night at the Shadow! That means free dancing from 6-9 PM (Although thanks to all of you it went even later last time) with a delicious food menu and full service bar. Don't miss a free chance to dance!

BIG EVENTS
February 14 - It's Valentine's Day.....and it's Swingin' Sunday.....so we're bringing in Ronnie Choy to help you steal your sweetie's heart on the dance floor!

March 21st - Thank You Members night! If you're a member you get in free! It's not just any night either, as the Dance Man Ronnie Choy will be spinning tunes to tickle your ears and move your feet. It'll be an awesome night, you'll want to make it a point to be there.

July 16-18, 2010 - The club turns 10 years old, and we have a full - weekend party planned! Three nights of dancing, two days of workshops, one decade of being the best dance club in town.

CLASSES
We're kicking off 2010 with something just a little bit different: Balboa! Born in California it now covers the globe, this is your chance to get in.

7:15 - Balboa

February brings another chance to add some flair to your East Coast Swing!

WORKSHOPS
Coming up soon....

January 30th - the Lindy Bombers are back and this time they're bringing you something a little bit different. This workshop will have a little balboa and introduce Collegiate Shag!
10 AM - Build you Balboa! - We'll pick up where the January Balboa classes have left off with some exciting moves to build up your Bal repertoire!
11 AM - Collegiate Shag isn't just for College - An intro to Collegiate Shag, we'll focus on beginning technique, rhythm, and give you moves to look good on the dance floor.
Noon - Shag in Style - We'll build on the previous class, as well as integrate our shag into our swing!
Classes are at the studio, $7 each or $15 for all three!

LIVE BANDS
April 18 - A bit of a long layoff, but we're making up for it with three hours of Cool Blue! That's right, the band starts early at 7 and plays until 10. You're guaranteed to put some wear on those dance shoes....

EXTRA EVENTS
February is shaping up to give you a lot of fun dance opportunities...

February 13 - The Shadow is hosting Cupid's Cabaret, and they're looking for vintage dress! DJ'd music, not particularly much swing, but a fun chance to break out your fedora and hit the town...

February 16 - Swing Night at the Shadow!

February 27th - Ronnie Choy DJing at the Moose Lodge! That's right, our favorite DJ will be spinning, and you can be there dancing for just $8.

February 28th - SOUL NIGHT! The music upstairs will stay normal, but prepare for a party of funkadelic proportions in the basement as we dance to soul music all night. Dig out that Stax records collection and brush up on your Motown, it's going to be a party.....
