Wichita Swing Dance Weekly

This Month's Classes: Breaking out of Basics taught by Evan, John, and Megan  Intro to Swing 7:30-8:00  There will be additional teachers substituting. Next Month's Classes: To be announced  Upcoming Events: June 28th is the birthday jam the Beach Party.    Extra Extra! We want to hear what you think. If you have an idea let us know. Got a concern on your mind, lay it on us. We want your experience to be fun and worry free. Homework Here is another example of Swing Dancing done fantastically well in other parts of the world. Check out Hugo and Melanie in Amsterdam during Smokey Feet just last month. I love their personal style and how they expertly craft their movements to express the music.  Travel Opportunities: If you're looking to meet more dancers and skyrocket your skills, there's no better way than to hop in the car and find a weekend workshop.     100 years of Jazz in Kansas City, June 18th-21st I hear this event is now FREE!!!!  Lindy on the Rocks in Denver Co, July 30th-Aug 2nd. We may even have a group of dancers going to this. They have a long list of fantastic teachers and live bands.  Cowtown Jamborama in Omaha Nebraska, Sep10th-13th. Wichita always represents well here. Great teachers, amazing friends, and fantastic live bands. Can you say Paaaarrrtaaay? Kansas City Stomp in Kansas City KS, Oct 16th-18th. This fantastic workshop weekend is only hours away. If you have never traveled for dance before, this is a great event to get your feet wet at. There will be a gaggle of familiar dancers there with you, great classes to take and hours upon hours of dancing to be had. Get a hold of Megan Pfeiffer if you want to say some cash and get in on the group rate. Favorite music This week's song is The Jive is Jumpin' by The Four Clefs. I love the vibraphone solo midway through. Vintage Clips:  Not going to lie, I may have posted this before. Even if you have seen it, you should watch it again. Cab Calloway starts this off and then the amazing Nicholas Brothers come in. I swear that these guys must have rubber legs. On a deeper note, if you also watched the video above, you can see that personal style comes from solo dancing. The Nicholas Brothers inspire me.
