Wichita Swing Dance Weekly

This Month's Classes: Tranky Doo, a vintage choreographed solo line dance done around the world. Taught by Evan 6:30-7:30 Intro to Swing 7:30-8:00 Taught by a lovely variety of teachers.  There will be additional teachers substituting. Next Month's Classes: Beginning Lindy Hop Upcoming Events: January 3rd is Dance Card Sunday.  January 31st is the Birthday Jam Extra Extra! We want to hear what you think. If you have an idea let us know. Got a concern on your mind, lay it on us. We want your experience to be fun and worry free. Inspiration Check out this crisp performance from a team that is based in Austin. Two of these dancers will be in Lawrence February 12-14th for a workshop weekend. We already have a group of our dancers committed to going. You should join us, it will be a fun party! Also, make sure to check out our very own yearly party coming up in April. We will offer three nights of dancing, two days of workshops, and (knowing us) shenanigans. Hop over to Sunflower Swing and get registered today! Speaking of which, if you want to earn some money during our workshop, we are looking for volunteers. If you are interested, email sunflowerswing@gmail.com to get more information.  Travel Opportunities: If you're looking to meet more dancers and skyrocket your skills, there's no better way than to hop in the car and find a weekend workshop.     Rock Chalk Swing has a FANTASTIC lineup of teachers. Make sure to drive up for their event in Lawrence Feb 12th-14th. Lindyfest  in Houston, TX. March 24th-27th is a HUGE event and oodles of fun. World class instruction, fantastic live bands and a whole bunch of fun competitions to watch mixed in. Sunflower Swing in your home town. April 15-17th, the best party all year. Fabulous classes and dancing into the wee hours of the morning. Don't miss it! Vintage Clips:  Did you know that the classic Hellzapoppin' routine was actually choreographed to a different song than was used in the movie? Check out the clip with the original song, Jumping at the Woodside. The tricks line up perfectly with the musicians solos.
